The David S. Davies Hong Kong Rugby Football Union Rugby Academy was founded in 2001.  During the past seven years of Academy operations, the HKRFU has established an effective programme for the future development of the very best of Hong Kong's young players.  

The Academy has provided a significant positve contribution to recent representative games at U19s, VIIs and XVs rugby and is now an important component of the Hong Kong representative pathway.

The selection process for the Academy sees the U16s and U18s age group coaches nominate the leading players in their squads to the Performance Department for selection.  This is followed by a challenging testing period to determine the eventual successful new Academy students. 

On admittance to the Academy, the students will enter into a programme managed by the Hong Kong National Team Coach and the Performance Department staff aimed at fast tracking and assisting them to gain elite player status.

A Junior Academy was introduced in the 2007/08 season to address the next level of talented players with the objective of further nurturing their playing abilities for the benefit of both representative and club rugby and to provide a second chance for those not accepted into the Senior Academy at first selection.
