Competition Guidelines

3F's : Fun , Fitness , Friendship

League

Summer League games are usually held on Saturday/Sunday afternoon from May to July of each year, together with the Winter League games held at the training centre's evening training sessions from 7:30 pm to 9 pm.


Tournament

One-day tournament will normally be held during weekend, once every two/three months.


Venue

Hong Kong Island - Happy Valley Recreation Ground;
Kowloon side - Kowloon Tsai Park;

Kowloon/ NT East

- Kowloon Bay Park;

Kowloon/ NT West - Tsing Yi Sports Ground.


Team Composition

A maximum of six players are allowed on the field at any one time with a total of 10 - 12 players comprising the squad. A minimum of four players is required to play at all times.


Tournament Format

Points for games

Win - 3 points
Draw - 2 points
Loss - 1 point
Forfeit - minus 1 point

Preliminary Round:

Round Robin Format - Each game will play 14 minutes with no interval;

Finals:

Knock - Out Format - Each game will consist of two halves of 10 minutes with a half time break for 1 minute.

If a walkover is given, the winning score shall be 5 - 0 .

In the event of being equal in the number of points at the end of the round robin:

(a)

The team with the largest touchdown difference will be the higher placed team.

(b) If there is still a draw, then the team that has scored the most touchdowns will be the higher placed team.
(c) If after this, there is still a draw, the higher placing will be decided on the toss of a coin.

In the event of being equal in the number of points at the end of the round robin:

(a)

Over time of not exceeding 5 minutes will be played, no intervals; if there is still a draw

(b)

One player out each minute till the minimum of 4 players and the "Golden Try " (first team to score) rule is applied.


Mixed Open Grade & Corporate Mixed Grade

Each team must have a minimum of 2 female players and a maximum of 4 male players on the pitch.


Men's Grade

Each team, if desired and agreed upon by your opponent, is allowed a maximum of 2 female players on the pitch.


Team registering

The team co-ordinator must register their team at the control desk 15 minutes before their scheduled time. Team should assemble along the appropriate pitch and be ready to commence the play.


Referee registering

The referee must register & report for duty at the control desk 20 minutes before the scheduled time of the game they are assigned to referee. They should perform the coin toss with opposing captains 10 minutes before the start of the game. They will receive the appropriate score card, pencil and whistle which must be returned back at the end of the game.


Rescheduled Games

The organiser will allow each team to reschedule any games within 5 days of the scheduled time if an agreement has been made by e-mail with the opposition team. Teams unable to reschedule the game or games will forfeit that game. The rescheduled game can be played on a midweek evening. The team who requested the rescheduled game must co-ordinate all parties concerned (i.e. both teams, referee, and results). The HKRFU will allocate a time-slot and venue for the game.


Forfeits (No Show)

Teams who forfeit or do not show up for games will be deducted 1 point from the total point scored and will be disqualified after 2 "no shows". The organizer will also black list offending teams for any future tournaments.


Punctuality

Referees and participating teams are strongly advised to be punctual.
Referees who do not fulfill their refereeing commitments will automatically have their team cautioned after 1 no show and 1 point will be deducted as penalty. The team will be disqualified if they attain a negative point.

The tournament organiser will enforce this strongly to ensure a smooth tournament for all the participants.


Sin Bin - 2 minutes in playing time

Any team that has 3 or more players sin binned will forfeit that game. The opposition shall be declared the winners, either 5 - 0 or the actual score, e.g. 10 - 3, whichever is greater.


Note: The tournament organiser reserves the right to make any changes to the above rules.
