Senior Rugby Protocol

 

Scope

This Protocol provides guidance to players who are participating in adult matches competitions whilst still under 18 and their parents

 

Aim

To provide clear guidelines for players participating in matches and senior competitions while still under 18 and to provide the necessary information to parents to enable the granting or withholding of consent.

 

 

 

Protocol Details

 

General

If a player plays in a competition that permits participation in accordance with this protocol a Senior Rugby Form should be completed and lodged with theHKRFU.

 

Coach’s Responsibilities

The Coach should sign the Underage Player Form declaring that:

§ They hold a current Level 2 Coach Accreditation.

§ The skill level, physical development, playing experience of the player and standard of opposition has been taken into account prior to participation.

§ They have attended a HKRFU Underage Player Briefing

 

Parent / Legal Guardian Responsibilities

A parent / legal guardian should sign the Underage Player Form declaring that:

§ They are a parent or legal guardian of the player;

§ They and the player have been notified of the IRB Guidelines and HKRFU Policies in relation to participation of all players especially in relation to the Senior Rugby

 

Insurance

A 17 year old playing adult rugby has NO coverage under the HKRFU Youth insurance policy, and comes under the Adult death and serious permanent disability policy only.

Review

The HKRFU will review this protocol annually.
