The Race to RWC saw Hong Kong veterans duo Ron Rutland and James Owens embark on a cycling trek of 20,093 km in 231 days from London to Tokyo – arriving just in time for the first match of RWC 2019. On their way, they passed through home town Hong Kong where we hosted the Race to RWC Fundraising Gala Dinner to raise money and awareness for ChildFund Pass It Back, the official charity of RWC 2019 and the tournament’s official logistics partner DHL.

The Gala Dinner took place at Kerry Hotel in Hong Kong on Friday 23 August 2019 with guest speakers Geraint Thomas, the 2018 Tour de France winner and Sir John Kirwan, a former New Zealand rugby player. All funds raised through the gala dinner went to ChildFund Pass It Back who utilize sport for development and deliver an integrated life skills and rugby curriculum for children and young people in disadvantaged communities across Asia.
