The FWD South China Tigers, the Greater Bay Area’s first ever professional rugby franchise, will kick off their first ever Global Rapid Rugby home game on Easter Sunday, 21 April, at Aberdeen Sports Ground (15.10) against Singapore’s Asia Pacific Dragons.

The Tigers are preparing a special welcome for home fans to the Tigers Den in Aberdeen with a raft of Easter-themed entertainment and activities to help share all of the excitement with Hong Kong’s rugby families.  That includes special family pricing packages with two kids (under 12) entering free with one paid adult (general admission ticket, HK$200).  Tickets for 13-17 year olds are priced at just HK$100.

Kids of all ages can try arts and crafts, balloon sculpting and face painting from 12.30 to 16.00 on the day, while those who want to strap their boots on with Tigers stars and HKRU coaches can take part in a free Mini rugby clinic on-pitch from 13.00 to 13.45.

Jugglers, stilt walkers and live music (14.00 – 14.45), round out the pre-match carnival on the day – and that is all before the real excitement starts, with the kick-off of the first ever FWD South China Tigers home match at 15.10.

The action and entertainment doesn’t stop once the game is underway either, with cheerleaders, lion dances and fan engagement activities both pre-match and at half-time, including the first ever Rhino Rapid Catch competition.

One lucky fan and up to three of their friends will have a chance to show off their skills and make some cash in the Rhino Rapid Catch competition.  The fan who gets a golden ticket in their match-day programme will be the lucky winner and can choose up to three friends to help in the competition. The four fans will be brought onto the field at half-time with a chance to win a maximum of HK$5,000 by catching as many as they can of 20 rugby balls kicked towards them by members of the South China Tigers. Each ball caught is worth HK$250.

With a host of innovations designed to make the rugby more fast and entertaining, including nine-point POWER Try’s and shortened halves, the action between the Tigers and Dragons promises to be fierce as the Global Rapid Rugby revolution takes hold in Hong Kong.
