This year’s ANZ Summer Touch League reached its climax last Saturday, after 6 weeks of play which saw a total of 75 teams participating in the 3 divisions of Elite, Open and Rugby Club.
Going into the finals there were 25 trophies up for grabs, with each division comprising different competitions for men, women and mixed teams.
In the Rugby Club division the Cup honours were nicely distributed between Revolution KD who took the men’s title, Kowloon who took the women’s, and SCAA Causeway Bay who won the mixed.
The Open division saw the rather more exotically named Zion, Bomber and Raptor teams take the men’s, women’s and mixed Cups respectively, while in the very competitive Elite Division Thunder, the powerhouse of local touch, swept the men’s and women’s titles with Buccaneers taking the mixed.
“It’s been a very enjoyable summer season once again,” according to HKTA’s Shun Lam. “With so many teams and games every week at three venues it’s been a real stretch for the referees, and a huge thank you to them for their fantastic support. Touch is continuing to grow strongly here in Hong Kong, and with the support of ANZ and HKRU, the Touch Association is looking forward to another busy season both domestically and internationally.”

The next Touch event is the Indoor Tournament at Shek Kip Mei Sports Ground, with the men in action on Saturday 6th August and the mixed teams on 13th August – there are still a few spaces left, deadline for team registration is 22 July, contact [email protected] for details. Also date for your diary – the Swire Properties Corporate Touch Tournament will be held on 3rd September at King’s Park Sports Ground.
