BEN CULLEN

Hong Kong Scottish player and Director of Rugbytots provides free online classes to kids in testing times

13th May 2020

We are delighted to announce our local hero for the first week—Ben Cullen, Director of Rugby Tots Hong Kong, who has been providing free 45-minute online classes to children 3 days a week over the past 6 weeks.

To get the kids active in a safe environment at home, the classes provided by Cullen were structured in a way that everyone can get involved regardless of apartment size or access to equipment. These interactive classes also allowed parents to write comments on the feed which were then relayed to the coaches for shout outs/virtual high 5’s to the kids.

Thanks to Cullen’s effort, the progressive classes attracted an average of 60-100 kids each session and received favourable feedback from parents not only in Hong Kong but around the world.

“Ben always gives 100% with classes, children are entertained every minute, constantly changing games to keep their attention.  In lockdown online classes have followed the same professionalism with immense fun for the kids, keeping them engaged with toilet rolls, socks, pillows and fancy dress. Always something new, including the shout out to all children as they come online, giving them huge joy when they zoom in camera to their photo appearing on the wall.” Said Chris Cooke, father of Elliot and Zachary who participated in Ben’s class.
