HKIS romped through the Pool B preliminary matches in the Boys tournament, winning their four matches by a combined 90 points for to just 22 against, to claim the the top seed in the pool ahead of Island School and KGV in second and third.

In Pool A, YMCA Hong Kong Christian College (YMCA) produced the upset of the tournament, beating defending Bill Williams and HKRU Schools Sevens league champions South Island School (SIS), 20-12, to top the group and advance to the cup final against HKIS.

YMCA posted 99 points on the day, one behind the century of top pool scorers SIS, who took second place in Pool A to advance to the Plate final. Harrow School advanced to the Bowl final as the third placed finisher in Pool A.

King George V Girls made it three in a row in the five-team girls single pool competition, beating Shatin College & Discovery College Girls 41-0 (ShaBay) in the Cup final. KGV and ShaBay were the class of the tournament finishing first and second in the single round-robin preliminary competition to advance to the final.

KGV posted 121 points in the round-robin stage, while conceding only 15 en route to the final. ShaBay posted 108 for to 17 against, with their only loss in the opening stages coming at the hands of KGV, a narrow 10-12 defeat which set the stage for an enticing finale. But it wasn’t to be as KGV were unstoppable in the final demolishing their opponents 41-0 to claim the three-peat. King George V Girls have now won the Standard Chartered Bill Williams tournament on every playing since the Girls competition was introduced in the 2013/14 season.
