HONG KONG REFEREES IN LONDON - DAY 8

23rd Mar 2016

Following 5 days of refereeing and some fantastic experiences, the HKRU Junior Referee Academy London Exchange has wrapped up. Harry Parsons and Steven Yuen headed to London on Sunday the 13th of March to referee at the Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens.

Following on from last weeks report, the boys refereed two more days at the NSS, where they took charge of matches in the U18 Cup competition. The level or rugby was very high with all of the top rugby schools from around the United Kingdom in action with players who will go on to represent their countries at international level.

Both Harry and Steven refereed very well with some great feedback from experienced people within the London Referee Society and the RFU. They gained some valuable insights into the way the game is played in this part of the world and refereed a large number of games over the four days.

On Sunday, Steven was fortunate enough to referee a local club game at U18 level between Old Wimbledonians and Richmond, both established clubs within London. Steven was assessed by an experienced former referee. Although it was a one sided match, the assessor had some very pleasing feedback for Steven. Unfortunately Harry had already left London and could not referee a 15 a side match.

The trip allowed the boys to take in the sights around London, watch the Harlequins v Worcester Premiership match and we also had a look around Twickenham. We were extremely well looked after by the local London referees and we hope to continue this trip in years to come.
