SCOTTISH HOST SANDY BAY IN SAXO CAPITAL MARKETS PREMIERSHIP GAME OF THE WEEK

11th Oct 2018

The Saxo Capital Markets Premiership Game of the Week pits Bloomberg Hong Kong Scottish against Herbert Smith Freehills HKU Sandy Bay at Shek Kip Mei tomorrow at 16.30.  Other action sees Natixis HKFC host Kerry Hotels Kowloon (18.15), while Societe Generale Valley battle Borrelli Walsh USRC Tigers at Kings Park (16.30)

After three rounds, HKFC are atop the Premiership table and the last undefeated team in the competition with their perfect record netting them 13 points. Valley, Scottish and Tigers each have one loss, with Valley holding a slim edge on the log with 11 points, while Scottish and Tigers are tied-third on ten points.

Tied-fifth, Sandy Bay and Kowloon are still hunting for their first wins on the season, although each side has accumulated bonus points for losses within seven points.

Sandy Bay’s bonus point came last Saturday against USRC Tigers when the Bay failed to close out the match before falling 22-17 in an encounter that reassured coach Brett Wilkinson that the side is mastering its learning curve to the season.

Scottish are coming off of their first loss at the hands of HKFC last Saturday, a 24-17 defeat which had coach Craig Hammond calling for his side to be more clinical.

“We had a lot of ball and a lot of opportunities against Football Club, but we didn’t come away with the points we should have. It’s still early days and I don’t expect us to be perfect, but you have to take those opportunities.

“Sandy Bay are physical up front and they have good strike power. We are not going to get a lot of opportunity again this week so when we do we need to take it. That is the challenge for the guys and we’ll see how they go,” Hammond added.
