This Wednesday, the Hong Kong Touch Association (HKTA) gathered to host a jersey presentation ceremony wishing the Hong Kong National Touch team well on their 9^th Federation of International Touch World Cup campaign.

This tournament will mark the second appearance for Hong Kong, following their 2015 campaign at the Touch World Cup in Coffs Harbour, Australia. This year, the team depart for Malaysia to form one of 22 teams competing in this year’s mixed open tournament. Dai Rees, Chief Rugby Operations Officer at the HKRU said “Touch rugby is a great sporting platform. For men and women to compete together as equals on the world stage is just fantastic!” Hong Kong will be joining the likes of Australia, Scotland, New Zealand, England, Singapore, China and Chinese Taipei where they will be split into two pools of 11 to compete in a single round-robin format from 29^th April – 3^rd May. Top two from each pool will then progress to the finals on the 4^th May, whilst the remaining teams battle it out for their rankings 3^rd – 14^th.

To kick of the festivities, Marco Wong, Chairman of the Hong Kong Touch Association kicked of the proceedings with a few words of encouragement. Mr Wong pressed what an honour it was for our squad to not only be representing Hong Kong, but representing Hong Kong on the World Stage. He echoed Rees’ sentiments, wishing the team well, imploring them to enjoy the experience and wear the Hong Kong jersey with pride.

Mr. Wong, and Mr. Fred Au (Director Generale of the HKRU), and Mr. Dai Rees (Chief Rugby Operations Officer of the HKRU) then proceeded to present the squad with their jerseys and Hong Kong flag. The squad list is as follows;
