HKRU Women & Girls Rugby Conference 2020

Rugby for women in Hong Kong and Asia is expanding rapidly and to capitalize on this the Hong Kong Rugby Union will be hosting a Women and Girls Grow the Game Conference. The primary objective would be to engage and qualify more women across a variety of roles (playing, coaching, match officiating and leadership) as well as to share ideas, achievements and collaborate with like-minded individuals to enhance and maximize the growth of the women’s game across Asia. In summary, the course will be the single most influential 2 weeks of female training and education in the history of Asian rugby.

The conference will service 3 parts:

Super Education Convention

As the women’s rugby game in Asia continues to expand and improve, the demand of better Coaches, Conditioners, Officials and Medical staff increases. Furthermore, the Sevens game has been a huge driver for the growth of women’s rugby in Asia. To help support the exciting development of rugby in Hong Kong and across the region, the HKRU is running two weeks of rugby education covering all strands and all experience levels. Application will be open to females only at level 1. For Level 2 and above females and males who coach, officiate or support female rugby can apply. All courses will either be heavily discounted or complimentary, depending on the course applied for.

Coaching Course
Coaches have the options of sevens courses at levels 1, 2 and 3. The Level 3 coaching course is the first Level 3 with a sevens focus and the first in Asia to have more female than male attendees. Experts from World Rugby are flying in to help deliver the course. All courses will also provide coaches with the opportunity for live coaching opportunities with female players in Hong Kong.

Strength & Conditioning
For coaches that prefer to focus on developing player’s physical ability to play the game, we have strength and conditioning courses for rugby at Levels 1 and 2. Level 1 provides coaches with the tools to get out improve the conditioning of the team. Level 2 provides coaches with the skills to work with athletes as they enter higher levels of competition.

Match Officiating
For those interested in refereeing and other officiating roles, there will be Level 1 and Level 2 courses. The "Introduction to Match Officiating" (Level 1) is a perfect course for those starting their journey into refereeing, while the Level 2 “The Developing Match Official Course 15s & 7s” takes those with experience to the next level.

Medical
In rugby the health and wellbeing of our athletes is always paramount, as such the HKRU will be running several medical courses and events throughout the week. These include First Aid in Sports course and Pre-Hospital Immediate Care in Sport (PHICIS) Level 2 course.

Women's Rugby Asia Forum

The Women’s Rugby Asia Forum will be held on Monday 30th November, Tuesday 1st December and Wednesday 2nd December. Over the course of the 3 days, participants will have the opportunity to hear both local and international key-note speakers deliver talks, interviews and interactive workshops focused around the growth and the development of the women's and girls' game. This forum will be open to local and regional participants, male & female, to register for, and is free to attend.

Hong Kong Rugby Development Workshops


The Hong Kong Rugby Development Workshops will be held across 3 days, on Friday 4th, Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th December. These workshops will feature a series of talks focused around coaching, youth development and leadership and will also encompass coaching clinics aimed primarily at the Hong Kong rugby community.
