PUBLISHED ON 01 DEC 2024
Hong Kong China 7s sent two development teams to play in an invitational tournament at the Dubai leg of the SVNS Series at the weekend (29 Nov-1 Dec). Both men's and women's teams progressed to the Quarter-Final stages of their respective tournaments, with fans able to watch back all matches from the tournament via @EmiratesDubai7s on YouTube.
Both in the International Open Men's and International Open Women’s categories, Dubai’s weekend of sevens offered one of the largest mass-participation in rugby 7s in the world, with games running across all eight pitches at the Sevens Stadium.
Both squads featured a host of young up-and-coming talent and a chance for players to experience an elite competition environment under the watchful guidance of the HKSI men’s and women’s 7s coaching team of Jevon Groves, Andrew Vilk, Peter Jericevich, Tomos Howells and Robbie Fergusson. The HSBC SVNS Series runs in parallel to these games in the main stadium, affording players the opportunity to watch the best in the world compete during their down time from games.
Hong Kong China also had their referee team on display over the course of the event – with Sunny Lee refereeing for the first time in the HSBC SVNS Series and Matt Rodden tackling TMO duties from the top box.
