PATRICK DONOVAN CONFIRMED AS PRESIDENT OF HKCR

We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Mr. Patrick Donovan to the role of President of Hong Kong China Rugby (HKCR) with immediate effect. This follows the decision of HKCR’s former President, Mr. Peter Duncan, to step down from the role in March 2026. 

Mr. Patrick Donovan served as Chairman of Hong Kong China Rugby between 2019 and 2022, having been a Board Member between 2013 and 2019. In this time, he built and managed relationships with key stakeholders at World Rugby and Asia Rugby, local club chairs and senior government officials, as well as managing key financial matters around the COVID-19 pandemic, full-time elite programmes for 7s and 15s rugby, and HKCR staffing. Outside of rugby, Patrick is an experienced accountant and lawyer and has held the role of Managing Director at Swiss bank UBS in Hong Kong since 2016.

HKCR would also like to thank Peter for his very significant contributions to the organisation in various capacities over many years of service. His insights, knowledge and experience have been invaluable to HKCR and have helped the organisation to navigate a wide range of challenges and opportunities since he took up the role of President in 2016.
