MEN’S XVs NOMINATED FOR 2025 HONG KONG SPORTS STARS AWARDS

PUBLISHED ON 31 JAN 2026

On the back of their historical qualification for the Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027, Hong Kong China Men’s 15s team has been nominated under the ‘Award for Team Only Sport’ at the Cathay 2025 Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards (HKSSA 2025). The nomination was confirmed at Saturday’s HKSSA 2025 Public Voting Press Conference held at East Point City in Tseung Kwan O, and attended by Captain Joshua Hrstich alongside teammates Keelan Chapman, Zac Cinnamond, Max Denmark and Matt Worley.

The prestigious awards, running since 2000 and widely known as the Oscars of Hong Kong Sports, are organised by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC). For 2025 they will also recognise categories for Men, Women and Sports Combination (read the full SF&OC announcement).

The public voting for HKSSA 2025 will be held across SF&OC’s online channels, open now and running until 1 March 2026. Fans must cast their vote on the HKSSA voting page on the SF&OC website (VOTE NOW).

Hong Kong China overcame the UAE, Sri Lanka and Korea to win last summer’s Asia Rugby Championship, scoring 28 tries and finishing with a points differential of +152. The victory served as automatic qualification for the Rugby World Cup 2027 in Australia – and for a first-ever appearance at a Men’s World Cup for Hong Kong China, where the team have been drawn to face hosts Australia, Chile and New Zealand in their Pool.

A prestigious Awards Presentation Ceremony will then be held on 31 March 2026 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to announce all winners.
