Round 11 of the 2025/26 Nan Fung Group | AIRSIDE Hong Kong Premiership showed that things are tight between the top teams, with only four regular season rounds remaining. The sides are looking to lock in those top four positions to contest the Grand Championship Semifinals.
Societe Generale Valley RFC still lead the Women’s and Men’s Premiership tables.
Women’s Premiership
HKFC Natixis Ice 79-0 Causeway Sandy Bay
HKFC got back to winning ways and also celebrated Stephanie Siu’s 100th cap for the club with a big victory over Causeway Sandy Bay. They also maintained a perfect defensive effort at home on their Club Day and shut out their opponents.
HKFC said of their newest centurion, “Steph has been an instrumental part of both Ice and Fire for the last decade, helping the teams reach new heights every year. A weapon on the wing, and a recently debuted flank.”
The victors also had a new player in the mix and one with Rugby World Cup pedigree. Wallaroos Lori Cramer is the latest addition, and the backline player has 31 Test caps to her name.
The hosts were well ahead at the break, 36-0, with tries from Niamh Orchard, Jamie Bourk, Izzy Littlehailes, Zophronia Uaita Setu, Hayley Glass, and Zoe Teece. They went on to add 43 points in the second period; Glass, Littlehailes, Bourk and Orchard all got a second try, with Mohammad Darling Shaheen and Christy Cheng also adding their names to the scoresheet.
Societe Generale Valley RFC 14-12 Kroll USRC Tigers Women
It was first versus second in The Nan Fung Group | AIRSIDE Women’s Premiership, and the Societe Generale Valley RFC side narrowly came out on top to pull away from Kroll USRC Tigers Women on the table standings with just four rounds left.
Kroll USRC Tigers Women had led 7-0 at halftime as they looked to inflict a second defeat on the defending champions (and it would have been two in a row), but Valley RFC showed their quality to outscore the visitors 14-5 in the second half to clinch the win.
Grace Gago and Jayme Nuku were the hosts' try scorers in a second period that saw three yellow cards brandished.
Clement Shield/VetiVa Gai Wu Falcons 60-10 Kowloon Rugby Club
Clement Shield/VetiVa Gai Wu Falcons followed up last week’s surprise win over Premiership leaders Valley RFC with a big win over Kowloon, who themselves secured their first win of the season in Round 10.
The hosts had led 22-5 at halftime and put in a dominant second half, adding 38 points and conceding just the one try. They stay in third place on the log but closed the gap on second-place Kroll USRC Tigers Women.
Kowloon Women’s Head Coach Terry Sibanda said mid-week that the culture of the club and team is based on having a mix of local and international players and that, as a rule, when players come to the coaches, they have to talk about themselves first and what the individual has done and contributed to the team before expanding on any team input.
They recognise they have players who play for the love of the game and others who love the game but have representative team ambitions.
Gai Wu plays HKFC away from home next weekend in the round’s most exciting fixture.
Men’s Premiership
Milwaukee Hong Kong Scottish 26-35 Kowloon Rugby Club
Kowloon kept up their good season form, holding off a resilient Milwaukee Hong Kong Scottish as Dylan White became the Loon’s youngest player to reach 50 caps.
Head Coach Lewis Wilson said, “I want to say a huge congratulations to Dylan on reaching the significant milestone of 50 Premiership appearances for the club. He is a vital part of our senior squad, and we look forward to seeing him continue to develop and contribute to the team’s success for many seasons to come.”
In the hard-fought match itself, the hosts had led by the end of the first quarter 5-0 before Kowloon scored their first points, but the visitors went into the sheds trailing 7-12. In the second period, Kowloon managed to finally wrestle the game away from HK Scottish, but they were only leading 15-12 at the one-hour mark. A flurry of points in the final quarter saw Kowloon come out on top, just.
For HK Scottish, they scored four tries in the loss; Marcus Ramage (x2), Rory Drummond, and Jacquin Moses.
Kowloon hosts Valley RFC in Round 12 in a big game for the top four standings.
Societe Generale Valley RFC 30-17 Kroll USRC Tigers RFC
After losing last week, Valley RFC bounced back with a good win over Kroll USRC Tigers RFC. The hosts were leading 17-5 after the first forty minutes, scoring three tries, as Nicholas Brown and Viliame Naivalu scored for Valley and Jonathan Howells for Tigers.
Societe Generale Valley RFC maintained the advantage, running out 30-17 victors. Player of the Round, Isaac Campbell-Wu, slotted two penalties and a conversion, with Alistair Stacey scoring the try. Tomo Howells and Matt Keay scored for the visitors in the second half but couldn't prevent the loss.
The results mean that the top four sides remain unchanged, with Valley still just ahead of HKFC and Kowloon, and the Tigers fall off the pace from third-placed Kowloon.
HKFC Natixis Club 58-21 HKU Sandy Bay RFC
HKFC Natixis Club followed up last week’s close win over the Tigers and put away the defending champions, HKU Sandy Bay RFC, effectively ending their hopes of making it to the semifinals to defend their title.
The hosts were ahead 25-7 at the half and never looked in danger of losing the contest, with the win making it 2/2 in the Premiership on their Club Day.
The result also saw HKFC keep up the pressure on Societe Generale Valley RFC as they remain just two log points behind them.
