Round 12 of the 2025/26 Nan Fung Group | AIRSIDE Hong Kong Premiership means we are near the end of the 15-round regular season. Although the four qualified teams for the semifinals are more or less locked in for both the women and men, they are still jostling for positions to claim home advantage.
Societe Generale Valley RFC still lead the Men’s and Women’s Premiership tables, but it remains close at the top of the Men’s log.
Women’s Premiership
HKFC Natixis Ice 31-7 Clement Shield/VetiVa Gai Wu Falcons
A great win for the hosts as Gai Wu Falcons had been on a roll in recent weeks.
HKFC Natixis Ice scored two converted tries through Annie Buntine and Niamh Orchard in the first half for a commanding 17-0 lead. Two more scores from Rachel Hocking-Fong and Elsie Hulme cemented the victory and saw them move clear of Gai Wu on the table as HKFC occupy third on 34 log points.
Gai Wu still has a comfortable position in the top four but are now fourth with 31 Championship points and will be optimistic of a positive result in Round 13.
Next weekend, HKFC Natixis Ice hosts Societe Generale Valley RFC, whom they have lost both times they’ve played this season.
Kowloon Rugby Club 0-75 Societe Generale Valley RFC
A convincing win for the log-leaders as they crushed Kowloon at King’s Park to firmly hold on to the top spot and have now scored 569 points in the 12 rounds played this season.
Societe Generale Valley RFC led 26-0 at halftime before piling 49 points in the second period.
With 52 log points, they are now seven clear of Kroll USRC Tigers Women, while Kowloon remain in 6th.
Causeway Sandy Bay 5-38 Kroll USRC Tigers Women
The visitors, Kroll USRC Tigers Women, claimed a bonus point win, which sees them remain in second on the Women’s Premiership table, while the defeat for Causeway Sandy Bay sees them remain in 5th overall.
Captain Bo Yan Bena Yu crossed over for the first try after three minutes, and Causeway Sandy Bay struck back to make it 5-7 after the opening quarter. A converted try for Elitha Sylvester meant the Tigers led 14-5 at the break.
They added 24 points (tries for Elitha Sylvester, Tszhin Leung, and Hinemaringi Scott) without conceding to wrap up the win on the road.
Men’s Premiership
Milwaukee Hong Kong Scottish 22-43 HKFC Natixis Club
HKFC Natixis Club secured a bonus-point win away at Milwaukee Hong Kong Scottish to keep pace with the Men’s Premiership log leaders Societe Generale Valley RFC, who they face in Round 13, and have a chance to overtake them if they win at home.
There were two first-half tries for Jack Bartlett and a score for Robbie Fergusson. Matteo Avitabile (who returns from a stint with Lega Italiana Rugby) converted all three tries to lead 21-8 by the break.
Three additional second-half tries from Alex Moses, Pierce Mackinlay-West, and Rory Stewart Cox sealed the win.
There was also a debut for new HKFC club signing, Irish hooker Bryan Byrne, who is a European Cup champion, 2x Pro14 winner, and Challenge Cup winner with Leinster.
Milwaukee Hong Kong Scottish will be looking to secure a win when they travel to Aberdeen next week to face bottom of the table, HKU Sandy Bay RFC.
Kowloon Rugby Club 31-42 Societe Generale Valley RFC
Log-leaders Valley RFC recorded a good win on the road in a high-scoring match as Kowloon could not get the better of the visitors despite a yellow card for Valley’s Alistair Stacey in the opening half.
There were tries for Lachlan Doheny and Harry Sutherland for the hosts in the opening period, but they narrowly trailed 17-19. In the second half, Kowloon added two more tries through Thomasau Forbes and Bryn Phillips, but couldn't close the gap on Societe Generale Valley RFC, who maintained a two-point lead on the table over HKFC Natixis Club at the summit of the log.
Kowloon is now third on the table, six points behind HKFC, and the Loonies will be hosting their season’s Club Day in Round 13 against close rivals Tigers.
HKU Sandy Bay RFC 27-32 Kroll USRC Tigers RFC
The season continues to be a struggle for the defending champions, who have seen their hopes of defending the title slip away, but they put in a good fight against Kroll USRC Tigers RFC despite losing by five points.
Next weekend sees Kroll USRC Tigers RFC face the team directly above them on the log, Kowloon, at King’s Park on what will be Kowloon’s Club Day in their 50th season celebrations.
