Hong Kong China Rugby (HKCR) beat South Korea 45-9 at the Hong Kong Football Club to win their seventh straight Asia Rugby Championship (ARC) crown. HKCR successfully defended the title with the seven try romp over Korea coming after a narrow last-second escape against Sri Lanka in Colombo, 15-14.
The successful title defence comes despite Hong Kong China fielding 18 new caps across the two-game ARC campaign: 16 in Sri Lanka and two today with hooker Luke Dewar and scrumhalf Emanuel Lai making their debuts.

Hong Kong China Rugby will play Korea at Hong Kong Football Club on Sunday, 7 June (kick off at 16:30), a win would seal a seventh straight Asian title for Hong Kong China Rugby.
With 30 players from the contracted Rugby World Cup training squad having recently returned from their warm-up series in Japan - a tour capped by an important first win over Japan Select XV, the matchday 23 for Korea will primarily be constituted from the side that came from behind in the final seconds to beat Sri Lanka in Colombo on 24 May.

A Hong Kong Select XV backing up the men’s Rugby World Cup training squad in the Asia Rugby Championship while they are playing in Japan, beat Sri Lanka, 15-14, on the last play of the game to open Hong Kong China Rugby’s (HKCR) bid for a seventh straight title with a win in Colombo.

HKCR RWC 2027 SQUAD TARGETS PERFORMANCE GROWTH IN JAPAN SERIES
The Hong Kong China Rugby (HKCR) men's representative XV is embarking on a crucial two-match series versus ‘Japan Select’ this month, in what marks the start of a demanding international calendar this summer that will offer a key performance benchmark for the team’s preparations for a Rugby World Cup debut in 2027.
The matches, on Friday, 22 May (16:00 Hong Kong time) in Ōita, and Friday, 29 May (09:30 Hong Kong time) in Fukuoka, will see Hong Kong compete against a Japanese side similar to that which visited Hong Kong in October 2025 in the first XVs match played in Kai Tak Stadium.

HONG KONG CHINA MEN’S VXs SET FOR BUSY SUMMER
Hong Kong China Men’s XVs will be taking part in the Asia Rugby Emirates Men’s Championship 2026 (ARMC) in late May and early June, as well as the team’s first three matches in World Rugby’s new Nations Cup which takes place in South America in July. A tour to Japan will also set off next week and serve as preparation for the Nations Cup.
