TICKETING DETAILS ANNOUNCED FOR CATHAY PACIFIC/HSBC HONG KONG SEVENS

25th Oct 2016

The Hong Kong Rugby Union (HKRU) has announced the latest ticketing details for the world-famous Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2017.

Following a pre-sales period for Hong Kong rugby club members and stakeholders, tickets are again being made available via a public ballot process.

The HKRU is pleased to announce that tickets will remain at previous year prices of HK$1,800 for a full three-day tournament pass. In an effort to ensure the greatest possible distribution of tickets, the HKRU has confirmed that for a second year, no children’s concession tickets will be sold in the public ballot.

Sevens public ticket ballot details announced

As in previous years, the public ballot for tickets is open to local residents. The registration period for the ballot opened on Friday, 14 October, 2016 and will run for 16 weeks, closing on Friday, 3 February, 2017.

The ballot process follows a priority sales period for members of the local rugby community, in keeping with the HKRU’s policy of prioritising its participating members for access to Hong Kong’s flagship rugby tournament.

“The public ballot continues to be the most equitable means of distributing tickets and has been well received in the local community,” said Mr Vern Reid, Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Rugby Union.

Interested spectators can register for the public ballot via the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens website at http://hksevens.com/tickets/ballot.Enquiries about the public ballot should be made via email to [email protected].

Once the registration period is complete, a distinct and separate draw will be held for each day of the tournament. Those draws will be held on Wednesday, 8 February, 2017, with winners notified electronically on the same day.

Ballot applicants can again apply to attend any individual day or all three days of the event and may be successful across multiple entries for access on multiple days.

Each applicant is allowed only one ballot entry per event day. Each successful applicant can then apply for a maximum of two tickets per day. Entrants to the ballot must be holders of a Hong Kong Identity Card and be 18 years or older on the day of their application.

Prices for the ballot’s daily categories are set at HK$300 for Friday and HK$750 for each of Saturday and Sunday. An administration fee of HK$50 will be levied on each successful ticket application.

All interested spectators are reminded that only tickets sold through the official online ticketing agencies, HKRU member clubs or the public ballot are guaranteed to be genuine. Anyone purchasing tickets from non-official channels should be aware that doing so leaves them at risk.

In keeping with previous years, 92 per cent of event tickets are expected to be sold within Hong Kong. A further six per cent of tickets are retailed through overseas ticketing agents with two per cent allocated to the participating teams.

Next year’s Hong Kong Sevens will be held from 7-9 April 2017 at the Hong Kong Stadium. For more information on the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens please visit: www.hksevens.com.
