Hong Kong gears up for toughest A5N Campaign to date
New captain named in Kowloon’s Tom McColl
[Hong Kong, April 14 2011] The Hong Kong Rugby Football Union Men’s National XVs team is off to Manila, Philippines for a training camp that will include an IRB-sanctioned test match against the Philippines on Saturday (April 16). Hong Kong departs with a 24-man team from the current 35-man training squad in place for the HSBC Asian 5 Nations 2011 (HSBC A5N).
On Saturday, April 16, 2011 (kick-off at 15.30), Hong Kong will play a full IRB-sanctioned test match against the Volcanoes at the Nomads Sports Club in Manila. The matches will be an important step in the HKRFU Coaching team’s selection for the HSBC A5N.
The 22-man squad selected for Hong Kong’s opening A5N match against Kazakhstan (April 23, 2011 in Almaty) is expected to come from the core of the squad travelling to the Philippines, although a number of players unavailable due to work commitments will also be considered.
