Mini club/section Accreditation Criteria

Mandatory criteria

 Player Welfare

  • Appoint a Player Welfare Officer, who will be the club’s point of contact regarding player welfare matters. This person MUST attend the annual HKCR Player Welfare workshop.
  • Appoint two Safeguarding Officers (preferably one male & one female) that will take responsibility for the clubs safeguarding policies and procedures. These two people MUST attend the annual HKCR Player Welfare workshop.
  • Hosting Tournaments - In conjunction with the HKCR, provide adequate first aid cover depending on the size of the tournament.

 

Coaching

  • Ensure U6-U8 Head Coaches are HKCR U8 qualified and U9-U12 Head Coaches are WR Level 1 qualified.
  • In conjunction with HKCR, deliver the HKCR’s Player Engagement & Retention workshop for the club’s coaches. 

 

Pathways

  • Either have a youth section within the club or have a formal agreement with another youth club. The agreement must outline a plan that aims to successfully transition players from one club to the other.


Management & Governance

  • Inform HKCR of all elected Directors and General Committee members
  • Ensure all players are registered with HKCR via GameDay

 

Teams

  • Have a minimum of 75 registered players between U6 and U12.
  • Ensure regular festival entries with a minimum of one team entered at each U6, U7 and U8. In addition, provide regular joint training and playing opportunities for other age groups.

 




Recommendations

 The following recommendations are seen as best practice, and although not a requirement for 2023/24 accreditation, clubs are encouraged to consider working towards achieving these. 


Player Welfare

  • Provide a qualified first aider for each training. It is the responsibility of the club to ensure that the qualifications of the first aider are current.


Coaching

  • Appoint a club Coach Educator (WR level 1 qualified), who is responsible for the ongoing development of coaches within the club, including delivery of HKCR U8 and WR Level 1 coaching courses and the HKCR’s Player Engagement & Retention workshop.


Pathways

  • Appoint a Transition Coordinator , who is responsible for the strategic transition of players from Mini into Youth rugby.


Management & Governance

  • Have at least one female serving on the club Board and General Committee. (Preferably separate individuals)
