Although the first full season of Global Rapid Rugby in 2019 had been pushed back a year, a “showcase series” was unveiled to give fans, players and coaches a live taste of the innovative competition.

The series featured 14 games at six venues throughout the Asia Pacific region with two in Hong Kong. The FWD South China Tigers claimed their first Global Rapid Rugby win over the Asia Pacific Dragons, 29-19, in their first home game at the Aberdeen Sports Ground on 21 April 2019, followed by a clash on 12 May 2019 with Western Force at Aberdeen Sports Ground who reigned supreme 16-40.

The two games served to showcase what Global Rapid Rugby was all about to the Hong Kong audience, including quick fire rugby, high quality food and drink, pre, half-time and post-match entertainment and an epic sports presentation.
