Hong Kong China Rugby (HKCR) believe in the power of unity and the strength that comes from showing appreciation and respect for those who contribute to the game. To recognize the invaluable efforts of those who do not get much credit in our game, such as our referees, coaches, physios and volunteers, we are proud to introduce the Celebrate Service - Cheers to You campaign. This initiative not only serves as a testament to their dedication but also aims to address any negative behaviour within our community.

How does it work?

From 17th-23rd February, we urge everyone to express their gratitude and appreciation to those who dedicate their time and effort to our beloved game. To participate, use our ‘Cheers to You’ Instagram filter on Instagram and tag @hkrugby when sharing your message. You can find the filter by visiting our Instagram profile and clicking on the three-star icon. We kindly request that you submit your photos to us, as we plan to add them into a picture collage. If you do not have Instagram, we encourage you to share your photo moments on Facebook, X and LinkedIn with the #hkrugby.

Our HKCR Marketing team will also be actively capturing these heartfelt moments and showcasing them on our social media channels. Throughout the week, we plan to highlight and share these photo moments, capturing the essence of respect and appreciation across our various platforms.

We are delighted to announce that HKCR will host an exclusive evening drinks session on Wednesday 21st February from 7pm at King's Park Sports Ground. This event is open to all, providing an opportunity for individuals interested in enjoying a drink with volunteers from within our community, including referees, medics, helpers and coaches, to say thanks for the work they put in to enable rugby to thrive in Hong Kong.

In addition, attendees may join the referee education session from 7pm and fitness training (bring your boots!) to get a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes as a referee. This is a great opportunity to show your respect and gratitude towards referees and other volunteers while bringing the rugby community together. We encourage everyone to join us in making this event a memorable one.

The beauty of this campaign lies in its simplicity. Celebrate Service - Cheers to You is about recognizing the everyday acts of kindness and dedication that often go unnoticed. A photo moment can be as simple as taking time to thank the club volunteers who selflessly devote themselves to their clubs, to congratulate a young referee for officiating their first game, or even share a pint and camaraderie with a referee or members of an opposing team after a match.
