COMMUNITY RUGBY UPDATE: MARCH 2022

02nd Mar 2022

Further to our announcement on the cancellation of the Dettol Hong Kong Premiership, due to the prevailing social distancing restrictions in place until at least April 20th, the HKRU has made the decision to formally end the rest of the 2021/2022 rugby season for our senior national, community and youth leagues.

Discussions with Mini and Tertiary rugby are ongoing with the hope of continuing past April 20th.

The HKRU will continue to liaise with the relevant Government departments to understand what is feasible/permissible as the situation in Hong Kong evolves, and should restrictions allow us to complete a return to play period by late May, we will focus on facilitating some friendly games and activities for the summer.

Although disappointing for our rugby players and supporters, we must do our part to keep Hong Kong as safe and healthy as possible, and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to the pitch as soon as we are able to.

In the meantime, make sure you’re signed up to the HKRU e-mail updates and follow along on social media for all the latest news and updates.

Look after each other and we’ll see you next season!
