HKCR COVID UPDATE

22nd Mar 2021

This morning, the HKCR Board and Management team have agreed we can restart rugby activities with immediate effect, based on the following;

  • The daily number of new Covid cases has returned to single figures, and the “gym cluster” appears to have been contained

  • The key groups of rugby players who went into quarantine have now completed their 14 days and we are not aware of any who ended up testing positive

  • The Government has not imposed any further social distancing restrictions that would preclude a restart

With regards our Return to Play protocol, we would pick up where we left off in Phase 3, which would mean games could resume w.e.f. 3rd April, although we will aim to commence league matches on 10th April, if no further disruptions.

We are very aware of heightened concerns about further Covid clusters and quarantine, and no individual, team or club at any level will be pressured into training or playing if they are not comfortable to do so.

We will be closely liaising with clubs at all levels over the coming days, and in the meantime if you have any Covid-related questions, please contact Lucy Clarke, Senior Manager Player Welfare & Medical, [email protected] directly.
