HKCR WOMEN’S XVS TO PLAY TEST MATCH AGAINST COLOMBIA

04th Oct 2023

[4 October 2023] The Hong Kong China Women’s XVs have set off for a one-off fixture versus Colombia, to be played in Dubai this weekend.

Coach Royce Chan has selected 25 players to make the trip, including 5 potential debutants, marking an excellent development opportunity for a relatively untested squad. Chan will be supported by her accomplished assistant coaches Sam Beard (team attack & backs) Sam Hocking (forwards & break down) and Sian Moore (transition attack).

Co-captained by PUN Wai Yan and AU King To, the squad is set to be buoyed by several members of the Hong Kong China Sevens team who have recently returned with a bronze medal from the Asian Games.

Hong Kong China are excited to test out a few new combinations and keep the momentum going for the senior women’s programme after a good run of tests earlier this year.

“We savor any occasion to play international rugby and can’t wait to seize this opportunity with both hands. We’re all excited to have a run and continue to showcase our team on the world stage. It is a great chance for some of our younger squad members to be exposed to the international environment and keep developing their skills”, Chan said.

In addition, Colombia will be looking forward to stretching their legs ahead of their participation in the inaugural WXV competition on the 13th October.
