In the city that never sleeps, a growing number of people find themselves homeless. Our week six #localhero Jeff Rotmeyer, founder and CEO of ImpactHK, has been devoting his life to address the issue.

Born in Vancouver Canada, Jeff has now lived in Hong Kong for 14 years. Having spent his first 13 years teaching in a government primary school, Jeff decided to dedicate his time to social work, thus establishing the Love 21 Foundation, a charity supporting the down syndrome and autistic community with sport and nutritional programmes. He then went on to also establish ImpactHK. Starting with just a few individuals wanting to show kindness to those in need, ImpactHK has now grown into a humanitarian movement, involving thousands of participants, that is truly saving lives. Alongside his team at ImpactHK, Jeff focuses on building continuous friendships and connections with the homeless by providing holistic support such as counselling, financial advice, mentorship, nutritional advice, physical activities and language learning, with the ultimate goal of settling them into employment.

“During challenging times like we are experiencing now, it’s so important to focus on showing kindness to one another and doing all we can to lift up those in need around us. Both ImpactHK and Love 21 Foundation strive to give their beneficiaries an opportunity to reach their full potential, and kindness is a vital ingredient in that process.” Said Jeff.

Congratulations to our week six #localhero Jeff! The search for next week’s local hero continues... Nominate your hero now!
