ROSARYHILL SECONDARY SCHOOL AND YMCA OF HONG KONG CHRISTIAN COLLEGE CLAIMED MEN'S AND WOMEN'S GRADE A TITLES OF 2023-24 HKSSF ALL HONG KONG INTER-SECONDARY SCHOOL RUGBY SEVENS COMPETITION RESPECTIVELY

The 2023-24 HKSSF All Hong Kong Inter-Secondary School Rugby Sevens Competition concluded with great success last weekend on 25th November. Rosaryhill Secondary School emerged as the champions in the Men's Grade A Division, defeating La Salle College 12-5 in the Cup final. In the Women's Senior division, YMCA of Hong Kong Christian College secured the Cup title with an impressive 34-0 victory over Heep Yunn School.

 

Starting from the 2023/24 academic year, the Inter-School Rugby Sevens Competition eliminates the regional preliminary stage which used to bring together the strongest teams from HK/KLN and New Territories to the All Hong Kong tournament.

 

This year's competition featured a total of 26 men’s teams and 14 women’s teams. The pool games and knockout matches were held at King's Park Sports Ground every Saturday from October 28th, with a day of finals on November 25th. Rosaryhill Secondary School emerged as the champion of Men’s grade A, while YMCA of Hong Kong Christian College captured the women’s title.

 

The determined and resilient Rosaryhill Secondary School, who emerged as the champions, displayed an incredible turnaround after a tough 31-15 loss to West Island School in their initial pool match. With unwavering determination, they triumphed over other teams in the pool, securing their position in the final 16. Riding the wave of success, Rosaryhill Secondary School beat HKUGA College and St. Joseph's College, propelling them to the highly anticipated Cup final.

 

In the semi-final rematch against West Island School, Rosaryhill Secondary School shifted the momentum in their favor, ultimately emerging victorious. Finally, in the Men's final, Rosaryhill Secondary School beat the La Salle College12-5 to lock down the Men’s title.


In the women's division, YMCA of Hong Kong Christian College achieved a series of convincing victories in the pool games, out-playing their opponents with scores of 51-5, 41-0, and 44-0. In the women's semi-final, undefeated YMCA of Hong Kong Christian College continued its winning streak with a 33-21 win over HKUGA College, then blanked Heep Yunn School 34-0 in the final to seal the women's title.
