UNIVERSITY SPORTS FEDERATION RUGBY SEVENS 2016

01st Apr 2016

On Saturday 26th March a packed King’s Park Sports Ground enjoyed the first rays of spring sunshine and some scintillating rugby sevens action as the finals of the 2016 University Sports Federation Rugby Sevens were played out.

A total of 11 men’s and 10 women’s teams participated in a total of 61 games over 2 days, with the coveted title of USF Cup champions at stake. A number of senior and age grade representative players were in action in both men’s and women’s divisions, and the high quality of skills on display was much appreciated by the enthusiastic spectators.

Poly University men and women finished two successful days by both taking home 3rd place honours, the men beating Chinese University and the women HK Institute of Education. The women’s Cup final saw a clinical display from Chinese University, who saw off City University with a 21-0 victory, while a much tighter men’s final saw City University take some silverware of their own, seeing off HK Institute of Education 19-7. Student rugby now moves into 15s mode, with the Standard Chartered Tertiary League kicking-off next month.
